On Working With Emerging Authors In Texas: 105 Publishing

In anticipation of our upcoming markets, we’re touching base with a few of our vendors.

Today, get to know Jason Raynor, the co-owner of 105 Publishing.

ABOUT 105 PUBLISHING

105 Publishing is founded by Jason Raynor (he/him) and Patricia Jones (she/her).

“We bring to life various genres of books that are all great reads. We value every author/client who decides to become part of the 105 Family.”

1. 105 Publishing in 3 emojis?

✊🏾❤️📚

2. What does being a creative person mean to you? How do you claim your creative identity?

Taking a concept given to us by an author and exceeding their expectations. We love when authors tell their family and friends, “If you want this [publishing your book] done right, go to 105.” Our creative and overall identity is working extremely hard to create a product that our authors love.

3. Looking back on the last year, what have you learned from your business or creative work?

You have to have the right people around you to build a great team. We have had our ups and downs, our gains and losses, but we learn from them all, continue to move forward, and most importantly, never giving up.

4. Describe the feeling you get when you make something new that’s in line with your vision.

Every new author we meet feels like the first time over and over again. It doesn’t get old, and we look forward to repeating this cycle again and again.

5. How do you get into the headspace to make something new?

Play some music, meditate, listen to motivational speakers.

6. What do you hope for the future of Texas?

A more accepting Texas. Living in Austin can easily make someone forget that much of Texas is not Austin. We hope to continue seeing acceptance of various races, cultures, genders and overall being okay with people being different.

7. What has the word “community” come to mean to you this last year?

Community goes together with diversity in our minds. If you prefer a group of people that only look like you, we don’t believe that defines community. The ability to come up with various ideas while being okay with differences, that’s community.

8. What are some of your goals for 2022?

Bring on more authors, thus bringing to life way more books!

9. What book should be on everyone’s bookshelf this holiday season?

A book that should be on everyone’s shelf this holiday should be EVERY book from our bookshelf of course! Check them out at www.105publishing.com/bookshelf.

EVERYTHING WE DO SUPPORTS WOMEN AND LGBTQ+ CREATIVES, DESIGNERS, ARTISTS AND SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS FROM THE TEXAS SOUTH.

You can browse the 190+ vendors on holiday season lineup here.
